Shaun Ingersoll has over 25 years of experience navigating the diverse but interrelated worlds of business law, tax law and estate planning. He has practiced law in Raleigh since 1988, and his legal and financial backgrounds blend to offer clients a unique perspective, whether resolving corporate issues or estate challenges.
Between undergraduate school and Law School, Shaun practiced as an auditor and tax accountant for the international accounting firm Price Waterhouse Coopers in the Dallas, Texas office. Although Shaun now concentrates primarily on the law practice, he retains his license in North Carolina as a Certified Public Accountant and is uniquely able to advise clients in both fields.
Shaun also has a particular interest in the professional heath care industry, which has its genesis in his father’s long-tenured experience in Medical School administration. Shaun’s father, Dr. Ralph Ingersoll, served in the Medical School Dean’s office at the Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Virginia School of Medicine and at East Carolina University School of Medicine. Because of this health care connection, Shaun has developed a statewide corporate health care practice focusing on physicians and their business- related needs.
An accomplished speaker and writer, Shaun frequently makes presentations for special groups and trade associations such as The North Carolina Pediatric Society and the Wake County Estate Planning Council. He served as a civilian lobbyist for the successful repeal of the North Carolina Gift and Estate Tax and has published articles in the Texas International Law Journal and the Campbell Law Observer.
In addition to being a licensed attorney and a CPA, Shaun is a Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law and has served on the North Carolina State Bar Legislative Committee. He has successfully argued cases before the North Carolina Court of Appeals. His dual licensing as an attorney and CPA requires him to attend more than three times the general continuing education required by the North Carolina State Bar for attorneys practicing law in North Carolina.
All of this, however, is merely a footnote to Shaun’s greatest victory, convincing the effervescent Alison to marry him, and his greatest achievement, his two sons, Seth and Joshua.
